Frequently Asked Questions - About product

Will I see the design before it is made?

For custom products requiring artwork or layout adjustments, we will provide a digital preview when applicable. Production begins after the design details are confirmed.

What kind of photo should I provide?

For the best result, choose a clear, well-lit image showing your pet’s face and features. Avoid blurry images, heavy filters, screenshots, or photographs with important details covered.

Will every wooden product look exactly the same?

No. Natural variations in grain, knots, and color make every wooden memorial unique. These differences are part of the material’s character, not defects.

Can I personalize my memorial?

Personalization options may include your pet’s name, dates, a short message, photograph, or paw-print design. Available options depend on the product selected.

How do I choose the right urn size?

Choose an urn based on your pet’s healthy adult weight rather than breed alone.

As a general industry guideline, allow at least one cubic inch of urn capacity for every pound of body weight. HeartwoodPaws’ size recommendations include additional room to accommodate natural variations in cremated remains.

  • Small urn:Up to 25 lb / 11 kgCats and small dogs such as Chihuahuas, Pomeranians, Maltese and Shih Tzus
  • Medium urn:26–55 lb / 12–25 kgMedium-sized dogs such as Beagles, Cocker Spaniels, Border Collies and Australian Shepherds
  • Large urn:56–90 lb / 25–41 kgLarge dogs such as Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds and Boxers
  • Extra Large urn:91–150 lb / 41–68 kgGiant breeds such as Great Danes, Newfoundlands, Saint Bernards and Mastiffs

Breed examples are provided only as a general reference. Always use your individual pet’s healthy adult weight when selecting an urn.

If your pet is close to the upper weight limit, if you plan to keep the ashes in their original sealed bag, or if you want to include a small keepsake, we recommend choosing the next size up.

For pets over 150 lb, please contact us about a custom-size urn. Because the final volume of cremated remains can vary, you may also confirm the approximate volume with your pet crematory before ordering.

What if my order arrives damaged or incorrect?

Please contact us promptly with your order number and clear photographs of the item and packaging. If the product is damaged, defective, or different from the confirmed design, we will review the case and provide an appropriate solution.

How long does production take?

Production times vary depending on the product and level of personalization. The estimated timeframe will be shown on the product page or confirmed before production begins.
